You get what you wish for

I have an adorable, sweet little girl who happens to not be extremely affectionate.  We get hugs and kisses, but they can be few and far between, and we never get to just snuggle with her.  This situation led me to our latest problem.  About a month ago I said to Rich, sometimes I just wish Kinley would get sick enough that we could just sit and snuggle on the couch all day.  I now truly regret this statement, and let me tell you why.

Saturday morning at about 3:30, Kinley woke up and was acting a little bit strange.  She'd had a bit of a cold for a few days and getting some new teeth, so I got up and got her a little bit of milk and some tylenol.  We had been staying in Wyoming at my sister Nicole's, so I was trying very  hard to keep her quiet and not wake everybody up, so I just put her in bed with me.  About 15 minutes later, with her lying right on top of me, of course, Kinley proceeded to throw up all over the both of us and our bedding (sorry Aunt Nicole).  I was frantic to get us out of our puke clothes and some how assess the bedroom situation and enlisted the help of my dear mother.  As mentioned in a previous, I may be well on my way to "disgusting", but I am dragging somebody with me.

So, the poor little thing puked for the next 6 hours. I guess I sort of got my wish in that I was the lucky one that got to "snuggle" her while she puked which just meant I got to get puked on every 20 to 30 minutes.  We did a lot of laundry that morning, a huge thanks to Grandma for the help.

Once she quit throwing up, we hurried to get ready and jumped in the car to head home.  Kinley managed to take a five hour nap which made the trip much easier than I had thought it would be.  By Saturday night she had diarrhea and was just one sick little girl.  This was our first big flu with her, she's had some bad colds and throw up before, but I have never been power puked on like that.  So, we're now on Day 6 of this flu and just having a little bit of the runs, much better than the diapers that resemble newborn blow outs I've been cleaning up all week.  And I was lucky enough to catch the flu on Monday, and may I say, it is one nasty bug.

So, the moral of the story: If you are going to make ridiculous wishes, be very specific, because it just might come true.

I think if you can survive that, you can survive anything!

You make me laugh! Only because 2 weeks ago I was going through the same thing. Like you, I was away from home. I was at my parents for the week. Our bug was only a 24 hour one. Lucky us. Madi got it Sunday Night, I got it Tuesday, My mom Wednesday, and my dad Thursday. Then we left friday. What a great week.

Poor thing! I hope you're all doing better, that doesn't sound like fun. Oh, and I hope you really enjoyed the cuddling part of all of it :)

Oh my gosh. I am so sorry. It's so much worse for babies to be sick than for adults. Especially puking. I hope you both get better really soon.
