Since transitioning Kinley to her "big bed" a few months ago, we have had the same routine. Milk, story, brush teeth, prayers, then either mommy or daddy sings 2 songs and lays by her for a few minutes. Then, either mommy or daddy announces some lame excuse as to why they need to leave the room, such as, need to go potty, brush my teeth, get ready for bed, put my jammies on, etc. Last night was my lucky night to lay by her. After I made my escape from her room, I went downstairs to chat with Rich. I had been downstairs for maybe 20 minutes when I heard Kinley crying. When I went to check on her, this is what she had to say.
Me: What's the matter?
Kinley: I need you to sleep with me.
Me: You do?
Kinley. Yes. I am crying. And I have big tears in my eyes. And my nose is stuffy and itchy. I need medicine.
Me: (knowing that Kinley has been showing some allergy symptoms, promptly went to the medicine cabinet for some medicine) Here you go sweetie.
Kinley: (immediately gulping down the medicine) Aaaahhhh! All better.
She then laid down and went straight to sleep. I am now on search for medicine for myself that works as quickly and effectively as hers.

I am not looking forward to switching Harrison to a bed!! Especially because he loves to play around and bug the other kids when they should be going to sleep. The only way we stop him now is by putting him in the crib. Soon though that won't help. . . he climbed/fell out of his crib last week which makes the transition that much closer!
When you find that medicine, let me know! I hate the transitioning phases for our little ones...potties, big beds, etc. Hang in there!
If you find that medicine can you pick some up for me:) Oh it's the worst to transition from crib to bed. Hayden was the ALL time worst. You know what worked for her was to have her favorite CD of primary songs playing while she layed there & eventually fell asleep. It's the ONLY thing that worked, and believe me, we tried everything:)
Sounds like she has got it all figured out... Take some medicine and go to bed! I'm with you, about finding some that works just as well for big people. Good luck with the transitions!
